Our Schedule
Our schedule will look a little different this year. Students will stay in their homeroom for math, reading, science, social studies, music, art, and technology. Mrs. Brown will be teaching the science and social studies and Miss Lindsey will be teaching the reading. There will not be switching of classes like in the past. We will be limiting interactions with other classes as much as possible.
First Days of School
I know there is some concern about the first days of school for students who are new to our building. As students are dropped off or come on the bus there will be staff to help your child find our room. I will be at our door to greet your child. Please let your child know that if he/she can't find our room, go to the nearest adult and ask them to show them to Mrs. Scott's room. I am at the end of the hall. My door has a red cutout apple with my name on it.
Supplies
On the first day of school, please have your child bring all of their folders, pencils, crayons, scissors, glue sticks, sharpie marker, and zippered supply bag. You can send in other supplies throughout the following week so their backpack isn't too full.
Masks
Students will be offered masks breaks throughout the day. Each student will receive a lanyard to clip their mask on during a break and lunch so the masks don't fall accidentally.
Water Bottles
There are refilling stations throughout the building. Please make sure your child's name is on his/her water bottle. Water bottles will go home each night to be washed.
Recess
Students will stay with their homeroom for recess. I will be outside with the students during this time. We will rotate through both playgrounds and the bus loop on a weekly basis. We will stay with our homeroom only and not be interacting with the other classes outside. For indoor recess, I have a limited number of toys that can be sanitized after use.
Specials
This year, specials will be by the week. For example, when we have library, it will be everyday for the entire week. We will not be rotating daily like last year.
Gym
Whenever possible, gym will be outside. Students should wear tennis shoes on gym weeks to go outside. If we are staying inside for gym, students will need to change into gym shoes so please make sure they have a pair to keep at school. These don't have to be new, just clean.
Questions?
I know there are a lot of questions and unknowns about this school year. I will do my best to keep you informed of changes to our routine. If, after our Google Meet (or if it is a private question/concern) you still have questions, please email me at [email protected]
